“You Better Work It!” Fashion Week San Antonio has begun!

BBPR Take Fashion Week SA

BBPR Take Fashion Week SA

Lights, models and runways, Fashion Week San Antonio has finally arrived! It has been a busy weekend for Belle and Bold PR as Fashion Week SA kicked off with a bang on Saturday afternoon. The week long fashion extravaganza presented by Tony Harris is taking place at the Mueso Alameda and will also feature events throughout the city.

Saturday was quite the adventure! The opening day was chaotic but fun. Each designer that is lined up over the course of the week will be revealing their Spring 2015 collection. Our duty is to make sure the media picks up their press badges as well as, get any interviews, pictures , etc., during the runway shows. The first day began with the Celestino Couture collection. Each article of clothing was designed so beautifully and the models looked gorgeous strutting their stuff on the runway. The runway shows last  30 to 45 minutes and immediately when they are over, we bring the press back to the social media corner so they can conduct interviews or snap as many pictures as they want. Social media plays an important role throughout the week as many hashtags such as “FWSA” “FashionWeekSA”  and “Be FashionableSA”  make their way on Twitter and Instagram to give followers a view of what’s happening during the shows. Thank goodness for flats, because the majority of the day is spent running around making sure the press get all they need and as much as I love my heels, it would be extremely difficult to run around in them.

Dia De Los Muertos Ball

Dia De Los Muertos Ball

After the first runway show, it was time to get ready for the Dia De los Muertos Masquerade Ball. The ball, which was held at the Tobin Center, was the official kick-off party for Fashion Week SA. Just like at the runways, we have been in charge of giving the press badges to those who couldn’t make it to the runway but were able to make it to the party. The community and prominent community leaders did such a fabulous job with their Dia De Los Muertos attire. The night was a huge success and a wonderful way to celebrate the beginning of a fabulous week.

Day two of Fashion Week went smoother as we were aware of the minor adjustments we needed to make before the shows. Sundays runway show was courtesy of Samantha Plasencia, who was on this past season of “Project Runway”. Samantha has a huge following, and the crowd starting lining up an hour before her show began. Her designs which had mixtures of blue and black, lit up the runway and all of her models look gorgeous wearing her designs! Following the runway show, I went to attend the Elite Mobile Spa city event which was taking place at the St. Anthony Hotel. The event included pampering and massage stations and a mini fashion show.
